Steve Cronic

Sheriff, Hall County

   

Steve Cronic was elected as Hall County Sheriff in 2000 and took office January 1, 2001.

After entering law enforcement at the age of 20, Sheriff Cronic's professional career encompasses over 28 years and has included working his way through the ranks as an Enforcement Officer for the State of Georgia Department of Transportation, Police Officer for the City of Gainesville, Investigator for the District Attorney's Office, Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia, a Corporate Security Manager, and a Regional Fraud Supervisor for one of the largest and most successful companies in the nation.

Sheriff Cronic holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration, both of which he obtained from Brenau University. He is a graduate of the Georgia Police Academy, as well as the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

 

The Sheriff was the 2006 recipient of the Governors Public Safety Award for outstanding contributions to the profession and was the Georgia Sheriff's Association 2007 Sheriff of the year for the state of Georgia.

The Sheriff, prior to taking office, donated time to the American Red Cross, served on the Hall County Juvenile Court's Citizen Review Panel, served representing Hall County on the Georgia Mountains Area Community Service Board, served on Rape Response Inc.'s Citizen's Advisory Panel and was a member of the Gainesville College Foundation Board of Trustees.

 

Currently the Sheriff serves and supports a number of civic organizations and boards including the Edmondson Telford Center for Children, the Hall County Commission for Children and Families, the Northeastern Judicial Circuit's Domestic Violence Taskforce, the County and Municipal Probation Advisory Council and the States Board of Public Safety.

 

The Sheriff and his family are active members at Lakewood Baptist Church, where he serves on the board of Deacons.
